Too Excited

I believe I have found a new favourite website: Vegas.com. Whoever said that Vegas had nothing to offer except gambling, was full of shit. What an absolutely AMAZING city! I can't wait to go and we're setting our sights on earlyish next year. I'm SO excited I can't even believe it. This trip will coincide with another trip as well, so I'll keep you updated on that as it progresses.

I used to live in Las Vegas, as I'm sure you remember. There are a lot of touristy things to do there, without ever gambling. The problem with Las Vegas is that it is a horribly artificial place.

Driving there from California, through the night, sets the stage. You're on a lonsesome interstate, in the middle of desertified nowhere when off on the horizon you spy a blazing white stripe of light (The Luxor) burning its way to the heavens. Rounding your way past the mountains concealing the source of that light it's then that you see the multi-coloured growth, faceted in an impossible place, in the middle of the aforementioned desertified nowhere.

Simply put, it just doesn't belong, like a flea drinking from a raindrop on a dog's back, thinking he's found an oasis.

Oh well, it's worth a visit for a couple of days, at any rate.

I'm not bitter about having lived there, though, not at all. ;)

First of all...thanks for linking to me!

Second of all...Vegas rocks. I spent two weeks there by myself (long story!) and spent about $8 gambling. LOL There is SOOO much else to do.

You know, I checked out The Luxor online (checking off places we'd like to stay at) and it never mentions anywhere how it just "burns its way to the heavens". You need to start a blog, VK, seriously. I love how you write.

I'm so totally looking forward to going though. I've never been and it seems like everyone should see it at least once - besides, how can I pass up an opportunity to see so many Elvis wannabes?

Kalli - I was just telling my guy that we're going to have to set aside a specific "gambling budget" cause I have this sneaky suspicion I'll go crazy at the slots if my time on pogo.com is anything to go by. LOL
